Random Meeting

I was working out in our apartment complex gym this afternoon when I ran into one of my friends from college. I've kept some contact over the past five years and knew she was in the area, but didn't realize she lives two buildings down. Aaron's college roommate lives about 20 miles away from us and goes to the same church. Funny thing is, our college is over 1,300 miles west of here. Small world.

Fire Alarm

Awesome... Lightning struck and the main fire alarm system for the apartment complex is going off (for ten minutes now). I'm going to be deaf if it goes on much longer and that's with ear plugs in. Even the fish seem annoyed. Good thing Aaron isn't here tonight. This is the last thing he needs right now.

Surgery

The long awaited surgery finally took place today. Everything went well with only a couple of minor surprises. Surprise #1, Both legs were numbed. Apparently, the anesthesiologist numbed the wrong leg and ended up having to numb both. Surprise #2 was that this was NOT an out-patient surgery. So, it looks like a night in the hospital is in order-and with two numb legs there will be no escaping. Hopefully, he will be released tomorrow.

Our pastor from the church we've been attending out here for the past year came out for the surgery which was very much appreciated. It's awesome knowing that no matter where we are in the world we are not alone. Another amazing event is the fact that my drill which was supposed to take place Thursday through Sunday was shortened to Thursday and Friday at the last minute (no ammo at the rifle range-if you want the story, email me). I would never had made it in time for the surgery if the drill schedule had not changed. God has truly blessed us.

The doc apparently likes the blue soap best. Yummers...

Here a Cat, There a Cat.

Everywhere a cat, cat...
My cat (Baci) and my mother-in-law's cat (Cheeto The Rubberband Eating Cat) have a strange attraction to the bathroom. This is a typical day when I get home from work.

Something tells me the next time my dad visits he will be bringing his own towels.

Shoes

I bought new running shoes today. My old pair was bought in January 2006 and have seen a lot of use since then, including two half marathons, lots of 5Ks, and the Marine Corps. I'm pretty sure I've put somewhere between 750-1000 miles on them. They've held up well.

Shopping

I went shopping for summer work clothes today and as usual didn't find anything. I was hoping to find some capris or skirts to wear to work since I pretty much have to pour myself into my old ones (oorah! Marine Corps thighs). I've never liked shopping for clothes and I have no idea why.

I like looking nice. I just don't have an attention span for shopping. I covered three stores in less than an hour (probably the reason I can't find anything). Though, looking at the calendar, time is really flying and I will be back on active duty in a month. So, I guess I will just rotate my 5-6 outfits until then.
